If you are a consumer or builder highly interested in the modular home industry, you should consider joining the Modular Home Builders Association (MHBA). The MHBA is an organization dedicated to the advancement of legislative and regulatory interest in the U.S. Its main goals include:

  • Increasing awareness of the value of modular construction by consumers, suppliers, builders and government officials
  • Advocating public policies that make modular building systems available on a cost-effective basis
  • Facilitating the exchange of information and innovation in the modular industry among members, suppliers and builders.

The Modular Home Builders Association is the only national organization dedicated exclusively to serving the modular home builders and manufacturers. The MHBA also advocates at the state and federal levels to ensure the presence of fairness within the industry.

What are the benefits?

Removing Barriers and Protecting Businesses

According to the MHBA, businesses spend between $8,000 and $10,000 per employee per year in hidden expenses that come with various rules and regulations. This number is expected to rise as the government continues to pass legislation.

The MHBA acknowledges the difficulty in keeping track of all the bills, regulations, legislation and code changes that may or may not have a direct effect on your business. As a solution, the MHBA monitors and reviews all proposed and passed legislation to determine its potential impact on the industry. It will then alert and update members about the information.

Thanks to the MHBA’s dedication to protecting businesses, it has successfully guarded members’ interests in several states on issues such as taxation, plan approval and code compliance.

Company Promotion

The MHBA promotes modular home companies by highlighting member homes on the website, which receives more than 22,000 visits a month. In addition to website highlights, members can also receive exposure and recognition through social media posts as well. In 2014, the MHBA even introduced the "Home of the Month," showcase which features homes built and manufactured by MHBA members.

Leads Through MHBA Website

The “Request a Quote” page on the MHBA website brings in leads and referrals to the MHBA. The MHBA then distributes those leads to members who build in that specific region.

Networking

The MHBA hosts an annual meeting as well as offers additional opportunities and locations where members can network with colleagues.

Industry Resources and Reporting

The MHBA provides opportunities to learn more about the modular home industry through the MHBA’s twice-monthly eNews, member events, industry discussion forum and more.
